Week 27, 2026 – Pile caps cured, excavation continues
Monday morning and the results of last week’s first pour are plain to see. The pile caps have cured over the weekend: neat square plywood bases sit at the bottom of the pit, each with a cluster of yellow-capped rebar stubs reaching up, ready for the next layer of reinforcement. Between the caps the black drainage membrane lines the trenches, channelling groundwater away from the fresh concrete. Bundled rebar is stacked along the edge, waiting to be threaded into the cages. The orange hoarding fence and the dark brick apartment blocks of the neighbouring street frame the scene from behind.
Stepping back to the street gives the full picture. The excavator is still busy at the far end of the site, cutting deeper into the sand while workers move around the pit floor. Looking at it from above you can count the pile cap positions spreading across the footprint — the structural grid of the future building is taking shape in concrete and steel, one cap at a time. The neighbouring apartment towers and the tree line of the park are already framing what will eventually be the view from the new Circulus building.
By Tuesday morning the full sweep of the site is visible through the street-level security fence. The right half of the pit already holds cured pile caps — last week’s pours standing solid, yellow-capped rebar stubs waiting. The left half tells the next chapter: raw rebar cages assembled directly on the sand, ready to receive their turn with the concrete pump. The rhythm of the work is becoming clear — pour a section, strip, move the formwork, repeat — cap by cap across the whole footprint.
