Week 25, 2026 – Pile heads cropped, rebar exposed
A red tracked excavator has taken over the pit, reshaping the sand around the foundation piles. The pile heads are cropped down and tufts of reinforcing steel now stick up from each one, ready to be tied into the caps. Dewatering hoses still snake across the floor of the pit.
A wider view shows rows of stubby pile stumps marching across the pit, with a yellow excavator, shipping containers and a skip lined up along the far edge. The grid of the building's footprint is finally readable from the street.
A day later the sky has clouded over and the foundation starts to read as a plan. Rows of slender rebar cages, each capped with a yellow safety cup, stand in the foreground sand, while the round concrete pile stumps sit waiting between them. The red excavator is parked mid-pit and black dewatering hoses loop across the whole floor, with the brick Circulus blocks closing off the far side.
Closer to the fence the bigger pile caps show their bulk: thick round columns of grey concrete with reinforcing bars bursting out of the top. A yellow CAT tracked excavator and a smaller machine work the back of the site beside shipping containers, a blue skip and the yellow hoarding panels along the road.
By Saturday the sky has turned a deep summer blue. A wide view across the whole pit reveals the full grid: dozens of rebar cages tipped with yellow safety cups stretch from the foreground all the way to the brick wall of Circulus. Two small excavators — a mini at the far end and a larger yellow machine mid-pit — keep working the sand between the pile stumps. The scale of the building footprint is now unmistakable from the street.
